Mukul Dev’s been there, done that as far as his role in Rajani is concerned, for he’s played the baddie in the film’s Telugu version Krishna as well. It is cool to be a bad guy, he feels. “It was my brother Rahul Dev, who suggested my name for the original film Krishna as he didn’t have any dates, he says. He believes he bagged the role in the remake because he already knows whta it is about. Having played the boy next door in his early part of his career, he feels he should explore new kinds of roles, now.

“At 36, I think I should be more mature and handle characters  with darker shades,” he feels. Mukul, who was in Mysore for 10 days shooting for the film, shot for the climax action sequence in grand style with 1000 extras, 50 lorries, 25 scorpios and 100 tata sumos. ” The way the entire climax is picturised , will be one of the highlights of the film. It will be complete value for film goers money,” claims Mukul.

As for working with Upendra, he says, “he is a fantastic co-artiste and an excellent actor. Between shots, I watched his Kannada film A in the car. Though I could not follow the language, I was engrossed in the film from start to finish, and though this man could do anything as an actor. I personally would place him  alongside the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, ” agrees Mukul. He also has several southern films in the pipeline. ” I have 3-4 Telugu films, with Junoir NTR and Prabhas, among others.  The southern industry has been very good to me,I may be a baddie, but I make sure I don’t sign bad films,” lauchs Mukul.  About his Bollywood career, he says, “My film Poison, also starring Aman Verma, will release some time this year. With an all new cast, its an unusual story.” And on the small screen, on and off he is doing this show called Phir Koi Hai.

With him, you see is what you get, there are no frills, no trappings of celebrity, no sugar coated dialogues to inveigle you to his side. That is Randeep Hooda-candid and upfront, take him or leave him. He won’t budge from his trajectory. the industry seem to have temporarily left him.  It is his blunt ways what he is best known for, that seems to have cost him his career, and he blames his genes for that. “I am a Jat and if you ever see two Jats talking, you will assume that they are fighting with each other because we are such loud people. So, you can’t blame me for being brash,” he says.

Neither is he very affected by all the negative talk he’s attracted over the years. His theory, “everyone gets bithced about atsome point or other ad so do I. I’m not someone special.” he is aware  though that his politically incorrect ways may have derailed his otherwise promising career. After all, he entered the filmland with a bang with dilms like DevD, that hd everyone sitting up and noticing this Haryanvi-on-the-block.  “I was stupid not to capitalise on the success of D,” he drawls addding that he should have done a Rang De Basanti after D. The fact is that there are very few actors who can carry films on their shoulders, him included.

He’s glad for the knocks he’s recieved in his short stint in the film industry though. They’ve made him down to earth, balanced and grounded as a person, he claims. He has realsied that when things work out, it’s superb, but one should not get too carried away with success. Also it helps that he has finally reealsied that it was his own conduct that was responsible for the way his career course has run. He candidly admits,” I am one of the actors who could have been much more successful in terms of media popularity and marketability, but I suffered due to my own choices.”

Also, his mistakes inculde a fall out with his mentor Ram Gopal Verma. Its clear that Randeep is fast growing up in many ways. He’s learnt the showbiz natter and is keen to make amends. he feels he would have been better off had he built  personal relationships that would benefit him later. He says he realises now that you need to be extra polite and you need to do things that give you stragetic alliances with people.  Randeep points out that the most important thing he has learnt here is that it does not matter waht you do but it matters who you know.

She stepped into the industry with fashion and created quite a stir with her impressive rendition. All geared up to host a show called Dress Circle, on Zee Muzic, Piya Trivedi says a lot about her life, her likes and dislikes, her future plans, and not to forget she is having the hots for Ranbir Kapoor! Her show is going to give the lowdowns of what’s happening behind the scenes in Bollywood, the catfights, who get signed and who got dumped ! The good thing about the show is that you will get first hand information and when it comes on the channels ad newspapers, it will be through Piya’s mouth.

There are certain sections in the show, which involve public opinions too. When the audience is allowed to be a part of the show, it gets very exciting. If and when she gets the right script and right banner, she wouldn’t mind gettign into acting. Its not that she doesn’t know Hindi, but it’s jsut tht she wants to be really good at it, and she has begun at Dress Circle. To be very frank, Piya never had faith in herself, until she was approached by a music channel for VJing. She feels it is very different to be in fornt of the camera and actuallu communicate with people.

An anchoring job, brings her a lot of satisfaction. Though its always great to be appreciated for your work,  Piya has never let any of these thigns get into her head. Surprisingly, she is not a TV person. Even when she is at home, she usually listens to music in her leisure time. Another secret which, has come to light is,  that Piya always wanted tp be a heart surgeon when she was 8 or 9 years old. And in her teens, she staarted liking the cat walks and the runways and was quite awed by the attention she got. She was also awed by the lights and camera and action and was quite wavered by that.

Sarita Choudary may look just like any other actress, but has gone further than any Indian actro in Hollywood. Her family and relatives are in Kolkata, but she was born in England and raised in Italy. The doe eyed beauty is currently working on the forthcoming NBC show Kings, which may sound like a period subject, but is actually set sometime in the future, featuring fast cars and attractive women. Being a futuristic drama, the plot inevitably involves all the emotions of a thrilling pot-boiler–be it lust, passion, intrigue or deception. Sarita plays the love interest of the King, much to the queen’s obvious discomfort.

With her stellar performances in Successful commercial cinema and theatre, Sarita Choudary has suddenly hit the limelight in Hollywood. And she’s earned her reputation with Mira Nair’s Mississippi Masala with Denzel Washington; Manoj Night Shyamalan’s Lady In The Water and a host of other illustrious projects. She is amply equipped  with her ususal engaging smile and charming effervescence. She has a tattoo in her left arm, which catches the eye, turning out to be Bengali text, translating to water. She clarifies its significance as ‘our body is full of water and without it in life, one cannot survive….’

Anybody  who works with Mira Nair can fit into any film, because she is such a hands-on director.Sarita feels that if Amitabh Bachchan has been talked into doing a movie with her, yes he can totally do justice to the role becasue Mira has such a handle on what she us directing and who she is working with. Curious as to hwo she got into Hollywood, how different was it to get accepted?  Sarita says, that one great thing about America is they really let you audition and if you prove yourself, you will have a chance of getting a role. She feels that if you are not white, not American, you have to make sure  yo are doubly prepared and able to do what ever accent they ask of you.

Raima Sen who is fast becoming an alternate filmmaker’s dream, swirls the silver spoon around her tongue. This is her 3rd lick of Bournvita straight from the jar. She is in the moment: her eyes closed, her lips curled in ecstasy. it’s a childhood habit, she can live on this says her maid of many years. Launching into what could possibly be the popular subject in the world among women & actresses in particular, she goes on about her various intriguing attempts to knock off the extra kilos and the General Motors diet that went out of control. “I kept at it for 3 days, but the 4th I ate 6 bananas & 2 bowls of magi noodles. That was the end of that,” she grins. Also exceptionally ridiculous according to Raima is how she always gets linked with her co-stars just when the film is up for release- Kaykay Menon while shooting for Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye & now Tusshar Kapoor just around the release of CKKompany. “Why only during the release & why only my co-stars? Its very boring. Tusshar & I are good friends but Randeep & I haven’t even exchanged phone numbers.” Despite the odd ball commercial films she dabbles in. (the most recent being CKKompany) Raima is still largely considered a champion of sensible or niche cinema, a label she neither she cares for nor believes in. yet it is her niche outings that have earned her accolades. The actress’ Japanese Wife is slated for release sometime in the coming months & director Aparna Sen is more than impressed with her young actress going to the extent of remarking that Raima suited the role so much more than her original choice her own daughter Konkana Sen Sharma, would have done.
Raima admits that her role in Aparna sen’s film has been one of the most challenging ones she has ever played. “I play a widow who does a lot of homework, so I needed to be comfy doing the chores. When Aparna Sen realized, I couldn’t even differentiate between a broom and a swab she devised a plan. I had to go to Konkana’s house everyday & sweep & wipe the floor & also wash her clothes. Everyday till it looked as if I’d been doing it all my life,” she says with a satisfied smile. The director & the actress get along like a house on a fire; by their own admissions.

The British Government has launched a bid in order to prevent Rapper Snoop Dogg from entering the country- after a judge over turned two previous attempts to ban him from UK. The star whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr.was probhibited from entering Britain after he was involved in a brawl at the Heathrow airport in April 2006.

The ruling was overturned earlier this year and Britian’s Border Agency had a subsequent appeal against the ruling turned down by an immigration judge last month. However the British Home Office has now filed a second appeal to challenge the decision, putting the star’s proposed UK tour later this year into jeopardy; and a spokesman of the agency insists ‘we will continue to oppose the entry into UK of individuals where we believe there may be a risk to the public’.
