After a frantic search for the leading lady of Suryakanti, director Chaitanya has zeroed in on  a new face. Regina Casssandra, isn’t totally new to the film industry though. ” I started anchoring when I was four for Splash, a kids’ channel. Then I moved on to ads. When I was 13, I did my first, Kanda Naal Mudhal, and the second Azhagiya Asura at 16,” says the 18 year old Chennai girl.  The Aa Dinagalu director, Regina says, happened to go through her pictures and was satisfied with her looks. He then met her and showed her pictures of Chetan, who then watched her films.

But it was only after beating against all odds, that Regina bagged the offer. ” I know some big names were doing the rounds for the role and many of Chetan’s female fans wanted to be cast opposite the hottie. I’ve never seen a handsome Kannada hero like Chetan,” raves Regina. Since she’s not a Kannidiga, she may face some problems regarding language. “  For my first two films, I had rehearsed my dialogues. I’ll do the same for  the Kannada film,” says Regina, “moreover, the director told me to act out in English and add it to Kannada. “  This first year pshchology student wants to give first preference to studies, and that is why she had rejected some offers in Tamil earlier. Suryakanti was a different theme something unique, so she accepted, and will be shooting during her vacations too.
