A leading Hollywood studio is looking at remaking one of its 2009 releases in Hindi, and a Bollywood producer will help it out. Top actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika PAdukone, Asin and Sonam Kapoor, are being considered for the two leading ladies. The Hollywood film under consideration is the romantic comedy Romantic Wars. starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. The Hindi remake will be one big fat Punjabi wedding with plenty of colours, song and dance, drama and fireworks.
Shrishti Bhel’s sister Goldie, who produced Drona last year, is the Bollywood film maker who will work on the project. “The days of plagaiarism are over. Official remakes are the way to go, and Bride Wars lends itself beautifully to an Indian adaptation,” Shrishti said. But there is likely to be a war anong the top six contenders for the two roles in this film. The Hollywood studio, unmindfulof the fact that these are the biggest names in Bollywood, will conduct a test look to pick out the two actresses.
Its worldwide production head Stanford Pinatch said, “We’re trying to produce local language films all over the world. we’re using the synergy between our distribution operations in all these territories and tying up with the local production divisions. There’s a shift in the market towards the local content.” Bride Wars is about a friendship between two women that goes dangerously bad. It will be interesting to see if real life good friends in B-town team up for the Hindi remake.
